Deploying Service Packs

Introduction

Once your initial ITAS implementation is completed, you will need to decide how your organisation will go about deploying service packs.

Some of our clients deploy their own service packs. These clients usually have an IT team who have a good knowledge of their internal IT infrastructure and their ITAS set up. This approach gives clients greater control over the process and greater flexibility over timings etc.

Those clients that don’t have an internal IT team or anyone within their organisation able to take on this task can have their service packs deployed by Hivedome or HDMCS.

You will need to decide well in advance of the first deployment which option best suits your organisation so that should you decide to handle the deployments internally, the appropriate training and guidance can be provided beforehand.

Another consideration for your organisation is whether deployments would be best undertaken outside of usual UK business hours. Because all users must be logged out of ITAS for the duration of the deployment, this means your users will not be able to access trading data for at least an 90 minutes, possibly longer. Deploying service packs out of hours not only reduces disruption to the business but also gives organisations the chance to undertake a full round of testing prior to releasing the software back to the users to ensure the deployment has completed satisfactorily and that critical functionality is operating as expected.

Carrying Out Deployments

Deploying ITAS service packs is a multi stage process:

  1. Pre-deployment checks
  2. Pre-deployment preparation
  3. Deployment of ITAS service pack
  4. Deployment of ITAS Services service pack
  5. Post Deployment testing
