Reporting Stars

Overview

Within the Data Warehouse, the Reporting Database enables your organisation to access your ITAS records at a database level via a series of stars. This means you can use your reporting tool of choice to access this data and present it in a meaningful way to your colleagues whether they have an ITAS licence or not. This data can also be accessed by or sent to any third party system. As part of your subscription to the Data Warehouse Service you will have access to a number of pre-defined stars which will be populated as part of a scheduled script.

Time Based Reporting

Another significant improvement included with the delivery of the Reporting Database is the concept of data snapshots. Delivering the ability to migrate data from the Operational Database (DB) to the Reporting DB means the Reporting DB then becomes a store of Database changes overtime. This in turn gives your organisation the ability to analyse this data to spot trends, gaps, risks and issues and rectify the problems or processes causing the inefficiencies.

It is possible to set up the system to take snapshots on a daily basis or manually at any point in time. This decision is based on the quantity of data you have, the amount of data you are willing to store and the time it takes to migrate from the Operational DB to the Reporting DB. When a snapshot is stored, the previous snapshot of data will be overwritten.
