CDM - Currency Code Maintenance

What is CDM

CDM is the currency code maintenance program. It is used to create, amend and delete the currency codes used throughout ITAS. Before a company within ITAS can use any currency, it must be set-up in CDM. The main information held is the currency abbreviation (a code), description (full name e.g. DKR = Denmark Krone), major and minor units (e.g. Pounds and Pence), decimal places used (unit subdivision, e.g. 100 pence = 1 Pound needs 2 decimal places) and decimal places used for rates of exchange.

How to use CDM

The CDM form is composed of a single grid of ten columns with fixed headings. Each code is to be created by completing a row on the grid.

CDM Rules

About changing currency details
Changing currency code details like decimal places, and decimal places for rates of exchange, should be avoided because the changed code could be in many client accounts and may have been involved in many calculations. If a currency code must be amended, take note of all the links with the particular code in order to amend them accordingly. The same precaution must be taken when deleting a code. Currency codes themselves cannot be changed.
Default values
Upon saving a new currency, if no values have been specified for: decimal places, ROE decimal places, sequence, pips, commission lots and deposit lots, default values of: 2,6,99,0,0,0 will be respectively assigned.
Position in the grid
The order of currencies in the grid of CDM is alphabetical. When a new code is created it will automatically appear in its corresponding alphabetical position when saving changes is executed.
