Translation

The ITAS Translation tool allows system administrators to relabel the buttons, menus, fields and controls within the Trader Desktop based on the user's browser language settings. For example, a user with French language settings may want all of the existing labels to be overridden with their French equivalent.

The screen has 2 primary functions; Translate and Override.

Translating existing content

In the example on the right the administrator has:

  • Entered the text they want to change in the 'Default Text' column
  • Added 'Italian' to the grid by selecting a language from either the drop down filter menu or the Column Chooser.
  • Entered the text equivalent into the language column. For example, Modules = Modulo.

When a system user opens the next session of the Trader Desktop all instances of the term 'Modules' within the application will now read 'Modulo' (if the language settings are set to Italian). Administrators can configure as many languages as they want by adding additional language columns to the grid.

Overriding specific translation instances

The Administrator can configure every element of the Trader Desktop using the Override feature, so a single instance of the text could appear differently based on the user's language settings.

If the Override feature is enabled (switched to 'ON') then the Control ID's of each element within the Trader Desktop will be displayed when the user hovers over it.

For example, if the user hovers over 'Modules' in the System Settings menu then the unique ID for this element is shown and can be copied to the clipboard.

The user can then:

  • Paste the Control ID into the column on the Override grid.
  • Select a language (enabled in the browser settings) that will trigger the update (Italian in the example on the right).
  • Enter the text displayed for the specific control in the language column.
  • Shut down and re-open the Trader Desktop to update the system configuration.

This process can be repeated for any of the controls on the Trader Desktop, and in any language.
